I grew up in Dade City Florida on a ranch. I was a tomboy that loved running barefoot in the woods and playing in the swamp. When I was six my mother, Carol Bradshaw, took a quilting class and that was all she wrote. Within six months she was managing the quilt shop (Quilts Etc.) and teaching classes. I guess I can say, "I grew up between the woods and in that shop."
After high school, I moved to North Carolina for a year and a half, then moved to Atlanta for about the same amount of time. During these few years I started skydiving. Boy was that fun!
I moved to Tampa for about 15 years and got married. During this time, I made curtains, Formal table cloths, and some quilts for Christmas presents.
In 2003 I had my son, Shaun who will be 19 yrs old in January. (How time flies). Unfortunately, my husband and I divorce and I came back to my hometown and the family property. My parents and I only live through the woods from each other now. Being back around my mom all the time sparked the need for sewing again. Now I am hooked!!! I love creating and gathering fabric for my "stash". Mom used to love when I come into the shop (Quilts on Plum Lane) with a piece of fabric and said "I'm not sure what I want to make with it..." she always just smiled and says, "come on we'll find something" and we always did. Since she retired, I still do the same thing, I just go through the woods and shop from her stash. Or we will take the day and go on the hunt for that perfect match.
After I came back to the property my best friend of 20+ years and I finally got married in 2016. We live on the family property and help when we can and when Dad lets us. Tim is a ship agent at the shipping ports dealing with foreign flag ships. His schedule is a bit crazy. No matter what time, day or night, he has to meet the captains on inbound and sailings, and trust me they wait for no one. That is why I usually spend time doing handwork while watching TV with him. So I reopened Bradshaw Quilts and More with a little different services.
Thank you for stopping by and Happy Quilting,
Jenn
